Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (CDHM), Tribhuvan University in association with Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus (TCMC), Tribhuvan University, Global Water Futures (GWF) and Centre for Hydrology, University of Saskatchewan and The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) organized a CDHM Webinar Series-6 on “Mountain Snow Hydrology” on September 03, 2020.

In this webinar, Professor John Pomeroy from University of Saskatchewan reviewed advances in understanding the snow processes that control the hydrology of high mountain areas: snow accumulation, redistribution by wind and gravity, interception by forest canopies, sublimation, snowmelt and runoff generation in his presentation.  He also discussed on how these processes operate in various high mountain environments, how they can be measured and show through computer simulations how they work together at the headwater catchment scale to generate downstream water resources.  Snow processes are particularly sensitive to climate warming and so their role in controlling the vulnerability of water resources to climate change was highlighted in the webinar.

Prof. Dharma Kanta Baskota, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University was the Chief Guest and Dr. David Molden, Director General of ICIMOD and Dr. Madan Lall Shrestha, Academician at NAST were the special Guests in the webinar.  All together 209 participants from 20 different countries attended the webinar.
